School InformationMontpelier Martial Arts Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (MMABJJ) is home to a very dedicated group of martial artists practicing in downtown Montpelier. In addition to an extensive array of stand-up arts – spanning Japanese and Okinawan karate to Chinese wing chun gung fu – weapons, and self-defense, training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) has been offered since 2006. While classes focus on the traditional BJJ grapping skills of throws and ground positions and submissions, the class format also covers the stand-up and entering skills necessary for the martial artist to be proficient in an empty-hand environment. InstructorsSue Arbogast and Mike Pologruto are accomplished professionals in their own fields and they bring this sense of dedication and enthusiasm to their martial art instruction and training. They are long-time martial artists each with over 20 years of experience covering several arts. Each has been training steadily in BJJ for nearly 10 years and each holds the rank of black belt under Julio Fernandez, a sixth-degree black belt under Carlson Gracie and President of the Brazilian Jiu-jitsu United States Association.
